Hey,
As I mentioned previously, I’m allocating my writing efforts on the new book. That means anything here will be rare and limited. I simply don’t have the margin to do both. But this is on my mind, and I thought I’d share.
With a few exceptions, I make progress everyday. It’s usually small, but those little word counts add up over time and I’ve averaged about a chapter per week. Like last time, little bits over sustained periods still get the thing done.
It’s felt like slow going though, even with a low daily word count.
This month is trending to be a lower total word count than August. Yes, it’s been busy - but that’s true of every month. I think know I’m tired, and I’ve tried to be mindful of that as well, taking time as I’m able to rest. But when it’s slow I get the sense the story is fighting me somehow…
It’s fitting in a way. Without giving the story away, I can tell you that I’m mirroring what the main character is experiencing. Slow going. Roadblocks. Not seeing light at the end of the tunnel.
It’ll get there. Success is in making the journey, not arriving. It’s making consistent progress, not necessarily massive leaps. (Although I like those)
